Dr. Sukhadeo Thorat is Professor Economics in the Centre for the study of Regional Development, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He studied at Milind College of Arts (Aurangabad), Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Aurangabad, Maharashtra), Jawaharlal Nehru University (Delhi) and Main School of economics, Warsaw (Poland). During 1980-1991, Dr. Thorat was a visiting fellow at lowa State University (Ames), centre for International and Comparative Studies (lowa City), and International Food Policy Research Institute (Washington DC. U.S.A.). He has contributed several research papers on Agricultural Development, Agrarian Structure, Poverty, the Economic ideas of Dr. Ambedkar and Casts and Economic Discrimination, and a book, “Technological Change and Regional Differentiation : An Analysis of Dry Farming.�
